On Saturday and Sunday, September 16th and 17th, 2017, Mamaia resort played host to the TriChallenge international event, the biggest triathlon in Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
TriChallenge Mamaia 2017 was a completely special event, especially due to the fact that the swim leg took place in the Black Sea and the run leg on the resort promenade.
The results for the individual and relay races
Supersprint
Andrei Sendroiu won the race for males, clocking in at 39 minutes and 22 seconds. Second came Rares Alexandru Panait (39 minutes and 49 seconds), while Lyubim Kirilov of Bulgaria came in third (39 minutes and 58 seconds).
For females, Andreea Diana Iordache was the winner of the supersprint race, which she completed in 41 minutes and 19 seconds. Next were Andreea Maria Matei Bobarnac (42 minutes and one second) and Casia Damian (43 minutes and 28 seconds).
Sprint
The males’ race was won by Erick Rogoz (1 hour, 6 minutes and 42 seconds), followed by Cristian Tranulea (1 hour, 7 minutes and 48 seconds) and Andrei Sergiu Chis (1 hour, 7 minutes and 55 seconds).
The winner for females was Madalina Frant (1 hour, 22 minutes and 48 seconds), while Anca Holban came in second (1 hour, 27 minutes and 56 seconds) and Monica Antal third (1 hour, 28 minutes and 27 seconds).
The Olympic
Attila Daniel is the grand winner for males of TriChallenge Mamaia’s toughest race, clocking in at 59 minutes and 40 seconds. Razvan Ene was the runner-up (2 hours, 0 minutes and 43 seconds) and Hunor Beres ranked third (2 hours, 1 minute and 10 seconds).
Daniela Lavinia Torok was the winner for females (2 hours, 26 minutes and 44 seconds), followed by Maria Mirela Popescu (2 hours, 27 minutes and 38 seconds) and Gerda Maria Dumitru (2 hours, 31 minutes and 46 seconds).
The TriChallenge Mamaia sports festival continued on Sunday (September 17th, 2017), with the TriKids Challenge, a competition for children aged 7 to 13. The little ones competed in three races: the cross-country run, the aquathlon (swim and run) and the duathlon (run and bike). The event ended with the cross-country Beach Run, during which participants had to cover a distance of 4km along the Mamaia promenade. The start area was in front of Rex Hotel and runners set off in the midst of the applause of their supporters on the sidelines.
